stuckinabucket replied to your post: re: “wife-beaters,” i called them “cannoli shirts” for a really long time, because they’re so tight and kinda make it look like people’s busts and legs are bursting out of them like cannoli filling. alas, it never caught on. i think technically they’re called “a-line t-shirts,” but no one ever uses that term. once i saw them labelled as “boy-beaters” in a delia’s catalogue or something, but that’s just as problematic.

They’re A-line shirts. That’s what they’re sold as, and that’s what they were called before COPS helped popularize the image of the drunken hick in an undershirt tearfully explaining to an officer that “the bitch had it coming.” Just call them that.

That works, too.

Personally, I’ve just gone with “undershirts” and “tanks.”
